The Derbyshire Police safer neighbourhood team will be at Hawkhill Road car park in Eyam for a street meeting on Saturday December 3rd from 2pm.
2/12: Blythe House remembers
Blythe House Hospicecare and Helen's Trust are planning a "Light Up A Life" service to remember loved ones on Sunday December 11th at the Chapel-en-le-Frith premises, from 4pm. No need to book.
6/12: Health Trust governors

1/11: Operation Sceptre
Between November 14th and 20th is Derbyshire Constabulary's knife crime awareness week, called Operation Sceptre, with information items appearing regularly on social media.
2/11: Chatsworth Christmas
Chatsworth's Christmas Market, with over 100 stall holders offering locally made or freshly baked items is on from November 5th to 23rd. Admission will be free, but car parking charges apply.
8/11: Buxton FC to visit Ipswich Town
Buxton FC of the Vanarama National League North has been drawn away to League One Ipswich Town in the Emirates FA Cup Second Round, the game to be played on the weekend of November 25th to 27th.
9/11: Free bus travel for veterans
Stagecoach has announced that it will give free bus travel on Friday November 11th and Sunday 13th to armed services veterans, cadets and military personnel.
12/11: Tideswell Community Players
Tideswell Community Players will hold their annual general meeting in the Community Hall on Monday November 21st from 7.30pm. There will also be discussions about the future, as the group's last production was three years ago.

3/10: Anti-vandal CCTV
In response to increased vandalism at some public toilets, Derbyshire Dales District Council has installed external CCTV cameras at eight centres, including Eyam within The Village Voice distribution area.
3/10: Story writing competition
A County Council short story writing competition for adults, with the theme of Derbyshire, is to run from October 7th to November 4th. Winners will receive book tokens. More information is on website derbyshire.gov.uk/council/new-events.
4/10: Hospice Care Week
Blythe House Hospicecare is planning a series of events for Hospice Care Week, which starts on October 10th. There will be a gentle walk on the morning of the 11th, an education session late afternoon, then an open day from 10am on the 12th. Details are on blythehousehospicecare.org.uk/events.
7/10: Rescheduled AGM
The annual general meeting for members of Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, postponed in September following the news of HM The Queen's passing, has been rescheduled for Wednesday October 19th, 6pm at the hospital.
13/10: Cyber fraud

1/9: Longnor Races
Ever-popular Longnor Races will return on September 8th for the first time since the pandemic. The event dates back more than 100 years and includes a pony gymkhana, harness racing, a motor bikes challenge and fell running.
2/9: Neighbourhood police at Foolow and Litton
Officers from the police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on the village green at Foolow, September 7th for an hour from 2pm, then outside Litton Village Hall on September 15th from 4pm.
5/9: This season's FA Cup gets underway
Buxton FC reached the FA Cup Second Round last season, the club's best-ever run, and starts the latest campaign with a home tie against Derbyshire neighbours Alfreton Town, Saturday September 17th, kick-off 3pm.
6/9: Anti-social behaviour grants
Charities, community organisations and voluntary groups have until September 30th to apply for up to £5,000 per project from an anti-social behaviour fund set up by the Derbyshire Police & Crime Commissioner. Details are on derbyshire-pcc.gov.uk/news.
8/9: Ukraine appeal

13/9: Chesterfield Royal annual meeting
As a mark of respect to the late Queen Elizabeth, Chesterfield Royal Hospital has moved its annual members' meeting from this week to Wednesday October 19th, at 6pm in the hospital.

September's Bakewell Farmers' Market will take place on Saturday September 24th between 8.30am and 1.30pm.
22/9: Match sponsors
Richard Lane Transport of Tideswell will be the match sponsors for Buxton's next home game in the Vanarama National League North, against Chester on September 24th, kick-off 3pm.

Officers from the police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be outside Litton Village Hall on August 3rd from 1pm fo 2pm and on the village green at Foolow, August 18th for an hour from 2pm.
4/8: Tideswell to Litton farmers' walk
August's meeting of the Peak Farmers Group will involve a walk through land between Tideswell and Litton on Friday 12th from 11am, lunch included. Host will be local farmer Richard Baker. Further information by calling 07483 373435.
9/8: Learning something new
The County Council has invited residents to learn something new at its autumn term adult courses, brochures available at the local library or on derbyshire.gov.uk/education.
12/8: Free car seats check
Road safety officers and a car seat fitting expert will be on hand with free help and advice in Morrison's car park, Buxton, August 31st from 10am to 2pm.
15/8: Foolow and Eyam well blessings
This year's Foolow well blessing will be on Saturday August 27th at 1pm and Eyam's well blessing is scheduled for 2.30pm, same Saturday.

Tickets for the 125th Matlock Bath illuminations in September and October go on sale from July 1st through the Derbyshire Dales District Council website derbyshiredales.gov.uk/illuminations. Prices are the same as last year.
4/7: Safer Neighbourhood Team
Derbyshire Constabulary's Bakewell-based Safer Neighbourhood Team will be at Hawkhill Road car park in Eyam on July 20th from 6pm to 7pm and next day, also 6pm to 7pm, outside Litton village shop.
4/7: Farmers' walk and talk

6/7: Going green
Derbyshire Dales District Council will hold its first "Go Green" family-friendly event at Matlock's Leys Park on Saturday July 30th from 10am. The free-to-enter activities are expected to include showcasing of solutions to climate and biodiversity challenges.
12/7: Climate workshop
An interactive climate change workshop is being hosted by Tideswell & District Environment Group in the Fountain Square Centre on July 26th, from 6.30pm. Called "Climate Fresk" the workshop will be led by Rina Jones from the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Local Authorities' Energy Partnership.
20/7: Trans Pennine Trail

Former army officer and businessman David Wilson of Alfreton is Derbyshire's new Civic Chairman, there to forge links between the county council and community organisations.
7/6: Energy funding
Derbyshire Dales District Council has secured a grant of almost £600,000 to make energy efficiency improvements and remove gas heating at its three largest buildings, in Bakewell, Darley Dale and Matlock.

So far around 100 north Derbyshire households have been accepted to host refugees under the national "Homes for Ukraine" scheme.
13/4: Two free films

Tideswell's Seedlings & Groundbreakers youngsters will celebrate Camping Sunday outside St John's Church on April 24th, starting at 10.30am. It has been an annual event for churches in the US and Canada for generations.

10/3: Former Peak Park chairman
Tony Hams OBE, chairman of the Peak District National Park Authority from 2002 to 2007, has died. Tony had been committed to tackling climate change and was a UK government delegate to the first Earth Summit and the United Nations Commission for Sustainable Development. He was involved in the founding of Natural England.

8/2: Zero carbon emissions
High Peak Borough Council has joined Race To Zero, a global coalition of regions aiming to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner. A further intention is to halve food waste and loss by 2030.
14/2: Business website
A new website aimed at attracting business investment to Derbyshire Dales has been launched by the District Council. It sets out to establish a clear identity for the region, encourage new investment and support existing enterprise.
18/2: Opportunity for farmers
Countryside Stewardship, which is aimed at providing farmers, woodland owners, foresters and land managers with new financial opportunities, reopened for applications on February 8th – further information from the Farming Life Centre, 01629 810903.

3/1: Empty homes premium
Derbyshire Dales District Council is asking for residents' and property owners' input concerning proposals to charge up to four times standard Council Tax on long-term empty homes, starting April. Online consultation has been set up at website derbyshiredales.gov.uk and councillors will meet for a final decision on January 27th.
4/1: Councils ask for more business help
Leaders of the county, borough and district councils in Derbyshire have signed and sent a letter to government requesting more money for local hospitality and leisure sector businesses, to help offset losses associated with Covid-19 restrictions. This is in response to reported lower than usual Christmas trading income.
7/1: Historic home's free garden visits
The owners of Grade II listed stately home Thornbridge Hall near Ashford-in-the-Water are opening their extensive gardens to visitors, free of charge, during January. See thornbridgehall.co.uk.
14/1: Re-opening date announced
Chatsworth House has announced that the house, garden, farmyard and playground will re-open to the public on March 26th. The farmyard will open for half-term on February 19th to 27th.

Hope Valley Climate Action Group is organising a webinar to discuss a project plan for a national beacon project aimed at low-carbon travel in the Peak District. It will take place on Monday, January 31st from 1.40pm.
